Mmmmm it is time to start drinking warm lovely beverages! Although I really love to drink warm things all year round. This little drink came about after having a pumpkin chai latte at a local coffee shop. The flavor was good but the drink was so sweet that it left me feeling pretty gross.
So after being outside and freezing my buns in the damp cold weather, I wanted something satisfying and reminiscent of pumpkin pie in a drink form. This drink has amazing flavor, lots of vitamins and minerals, protein and the whole family adored it!
Pumpkin Pie Protein Latte
1/3 cup pumpkin puree (not sweetened)
1 cup almond milk
2 Tbls hemp hearts
2 Tsp maple syrup (or 2-3 dates)
1/2 banana 1/2 tsp each- cinnamon, ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg (less if you prefer)
*optional, add 1/2 – 3/4 cup hot water and 1 tsp coffee granules for a coffee pumpkin latte *
If you want this warm you need to do 1 of 2 things, either warm your milk before blending it all together, or if you have a fancy blender like mine (blendtec) you just set it on the hot chocolate setting and let er rip!
If you have a regular blender you will need to cycle this a couple of times. It may not get as foamy as with my blender but the flavor will be stellar any how! I actually prefer no foam but my family loves the foam!
