Sky High Nutrition!!!! Getting the most bang for your buck is really what my detox is all about. But you don’t have to do a cleanse or detox to start upping the ante! In real life eating I try very hard to make sure I get something out of my meals. So much of what we eat is devoid of nutrition. So what happens when we eat food that doesn’t nourish us? Yup you got it, we eat more and more trying to fill that need for vitamins and minerals. When you are eating nutritionally dense food you will be surprised just how satisfied you can be. Suddenly your body is getting what it needs and wants. Now your taste buds might rebel at first, but again given even a week and your tastes can change. I challenge you to pick a vegetable that you are not a big fan of. Eat a little every day for a whole week and then tell me it doesn’t taste better than it did before. Give it 2 weeks and you might just start craving it!
I wanted to share a recipe from the detox cook book today. Most people eat this one daily while on the detox, and often beyond, because it really satisfies! This baby is chock full of amazing ingredients that will not only fill you belly but also kick that nutritional profile a mile high!!
Super Human Smoothie!
1 Tbls. Gogi Berries
1 Tbls maca powder
1 Tbls cocoa powder
1 Tbls chia seeds
2 Tbls hemp seeds or (plain) hemp protein powder
½ cup raspberries
½ cup mango
Optional – ½ banana for sweetness
1 1/2 cup coconut water (or water)
If you prefer to eat this smoothie in the morning, and you find you need a little more staying power to last until lunch time,
add one of the following for some extra protein and good fats.
¼ cup cashews
¼ cup walnuts
You may need to add ½ cup extra water or coconut water if you add any of these.
As always add ice or more water to create the consistency you prefer.
You will have to blend like crazy with a regular blender but if you have a high speed blender it will be smooth as silk!
