Sore Joint Turmeric Tonic!


Running again??? Maybe, with a little help from my new magical turmeric tonic!

Ever since college I have really enjoyed running.  I love to run far and slow and explore my town from trail to lake to park.  Duluth is pretty much the best place to run (if a little hilly).  Anyhow, the last year or so I have been trying to give my knees a little break, in hopes that they would rally.  I have been running shorter, even slower and not as frequently.  But I still love it.

Over the last few months I have been working really hard at strengthening my hips and legs in hopes of going long again.  I figured if I was going to give myself the best chance I better pull out all the stops.  That is where today’s recipe comes in.

Super Anti-inflammatory Turmeric Tonic!!!!!!  Now this is not the most delicious, but it is not bad either!  It is kind of like slightly sweet curry in tea form.


Easy peasy! Tumeric, cardamom, ginger, black pepper, and honey. All of these are to taste. Not pictured (forgot) a little coconut oil.

This tonic is soooooo super simple.  These ingredients are all to taste but I will tell you what amounts I do.

Super Golden Turmeric Joint Tonic Extraordinaire!

1/2 tsp tumeric powder

1/8 tsp ginger powder

1/8 tsp cardamom powder

1-2 tsp honey

a couple of shakes of black pepper

a small dollop of coconut oil – I only use 1/4 tsp or less per cup

(if I feel like it I will add a splash of almond milk at the end to cut the bitterness of the tumeric)

Mix this all in 1-2 cups hot water and drink!!
